Good Start…

Friday, February 27th, 2004

Well, so far today…I’ve slept in….left my keyboard and my phone at home….and spilt coffee all over the lunch room floor….

I guess it can only get better from here…

Domain buying spree

Monday, February 23rd, 2004

I bought myself a couple of new domains the other day – stuartherring.com and herringfamily.org. I was gonna buy herring.com.au as well, but being an Australian domain it was going to cost $140, so maybe later.

I dunno what I’ll use herringfamily.org for…I’ll probably let the rest of the family use it for stuff….definitely email at least.
We’ll see. I’ll have to wait till I can be bothered paying to get them added to my hosting anyway.
I will probably move this blog to stuartherring.com once I have the hosting sorted. I kind of think it’d be better to distant my personal stuff from the cumulo-nimbus page.

Things happen

This hasn’t exactly been the best week or so for me…
Tessa is leaving, she’s moving back down to Melbourne to start her own life.
We’ve been living together for 4 years, so naturaly I’m a little unhappy about it, but I understand her reasons and I support her all the way.
Besides, we’re not going to lose contact or stop being friends, and who knows what may happen in the future….

QLD is hot, and other stuff

Sunday, February 1st, 2004

We just returned from a week visiting my parents in Queensland, and there is nothing that defines relief like stepping off a plane into 22 degrees with about 10% humidity after a week of around 34 degrees and at least 95% humidity. It’s kind of funny, because 34 would be hot here…even very hot, but not quite so unbearably, sap the life out of you, drench you in sweat hot…I don’t think I’ve ever sweated that much…not fun at all. At least there was a pool though…which was a refreshing 30 degrees..heh.

Anyway, since I’ve been back I’ve been busy attempting to install gentoo and get all those music applications up and running. So far I’m getting there, with not too many hurdles getting in the way (Tessa calls it fighting, but I’ve had worse). Unfortunately I’m off to Sydney for a week tomorrow, so I wont get to see the results of my work till Friday…but I think I’ll live.

I forgot to mention that I bought myself a new desk for the music room a couple of weeks ago. It’s really made a difference – it’s a nice big 8′ by 6′ corner workstation desk, and it lets me spread out quite comfortably, without making the room feel too small.
As I was carrying it home, I was once again reminded of why I bought a station wagon…every time I think I’ve found somethign too big to put in it, it proves me wrong.
