The only thing worse than the crappy spelling and grammar in slashdot comments, is when some self righteous idiot decides to “correct” a perfectly correct sentence.
In this case deciding that a sentence of the form “xxx is located at yyy” would be improved by changing “is located at” to”has been made available through”.
WTF?
If the original sentence could be improved at all (personally I don’t think it needed to be, after all it was just a bloody slashdot submission, hardly something that requires the highest forms of style), then I’d say you could probably drop the “located”.
You definitely don’t want to go adding a whole bunch of extra words, chaning the tense and changing the bloody verb. It doesn’t even mean the same thing anymore!
I’d hate to try to read anything written by that guy – I’d be alseep before the end of the first paragraph!
