#10 – I’m back!
So after more than two years, I’ve started the Tuesday Challenge thing (which I still need to find a better name for) again.
This one is just a short improvisation on clarinet and guitar, with a Pink Floyd influenced feel – so well and truly in my comfort zone.
The clarinet is of course the new thing – I acquired one on the weekend, and have the loan of it for the next couple of years (until Caitlin has to give back her school provided one, at which time this one will become hers). I’ve nearly got the hang of it now, apart from some difficulty with the upper register and the weird between register fingerings, although my saxophonist history can be rather clearly heard – it sounds more like a soparano sax at times than a clarinet.
Anyway, now that I’m back on track musically, I’ll endeavour to make next week’s piece a little more adventurous.

I can hear a Gilmour in there somewhere :-) and I agree about the clarinet/sax thing. It does sound a bit more like a black dress and stilettos than I’d normally expect from a clarinet. Don’t try to fix that though, I like!
