No, I’m not skipping 13 due to superstition – I did actually do a 13 – over the course of a couple of days, due to being too tired to put in a full night’s work – but it needs about another hour’s work to make it presentable, and I figured that if I did that tonight it would ruin my chances of doing a new one, so I chose to do a new one instead.

For #14 we go on a trip to the 80s!
This one makes up for #12 a little – it’s about 3:30 long, and has quite a few more parts. Unfortunately it’s another case of two quite different ideas kind of just stuck together – in this case it’s the main theme or chorus, and the rest of the piece – the transitions between them are a bit abrupt, and I’m not really sure there’s anything that musically joins them.
The bass is my favourite part in this one, it’s ridiculously simple, but was fun to play. I also rather like the second verse guitar melody – at least the first half of it. After that it starts to fall apart a bit.
It’s becoming very apparent that I need to do something about the drum sounds I have available – there’s very slim pickings in Session Drummer, and apart from that I only have the horrible GS ones that come with Cakewalk TTS 1 and a reasonably good kit in the free Kore Player.
I think I may end up having to buy EZDrummer or similar soon – but in the mean time I might have to go back to using the sound font I’d been using previously – Sonic Implants Blue Jay
